Server switch

This Friday the blog will be moving to a new server! You’re probably asking yourself questions like, “What does this mean for me?” and, “What is a server?” No worries, I’ve brought Hannah to the computer to explain it all.

Adam: When is this going to happen?
Hannah: Friday night after you’ve all gone to bed and I am keeping my mother up.

Adam: Will the blog be down?
Hannah: Aaaahhh, oooooo (Translation: nopers)

Adam: What is a server?
Hannah: Pass….

Adam: What does this mean for the blog visitors?
Hannah: Faster blog!!!

That about wraps that up, thanks Hannah and we’ll see you guys on the new server after Friday night.

Hannah gets a job, sorta

So apparently there are child labor laws that prevent people from putting their 9-week old babies to work. As that Will Smith song tells me, “I just don’t understand.”

It’s not like babies sleep off and on throughtout the day, need to eat every three hours or go to the bathroom wherever they want. Babies would be the perfect employee. However, that doesn’t matter because of those silly laws.

Last week I was thinking about all of this and came up with a solution. Google ads. I mean you are all pretty much here for Hannah, so any ad money generated is like her working. Good work baby Hannah.

Ok, joking aside, there are some Google ads on the site. With the number of hits we are getting I figured you might as well make Hannah a couple of bucks. The ads won’t be too intrusive, so please continue to enjoy the website.

Pictures online

Throughout the labor and the first few days we posted a bunch of pictures to twitter and some people posted their own pictures to facebook. We are trying to collect all the pictures and post them onto our blog gallery now. We’ve already begun to put some pictures up on the gallery.

At the top of the screen there is a link in the link bar called, “Pictures”. It links to our online Gallery. It is safe to assume pictures will get uploaded fairly regularly now to that gallery. The direct link to the gallery is http://pics.beckerproject.com. We’ve got some good pictures up there now and more to come as the days go on. Enjoy!

P.S. I am writing the birth experience from my perspective as I get the chance. I am mostly doing it because I think it would be cool to read later, and partially for your guys’ entertainment. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up.

When is the baby due?

It is coming out, and it’s coming out loud! Baby!!!

For those of you who are not familiar with Brian Regan, you should be. Anyway, there have been some changes to the blog this evening/morning. Firstly, I hooked up my Twitter account back to the blog. I don’t remember why it disappeared in the first place, but now it is back. Second, there is a new poll. Please enter in your guess for due date and weight if you are feelin’ lucky! Lastly, there is a new theme for the blog, which should be very apparent. We are looking forward to a great new year with a great new baby.

Happy new years everyone, and I hope you vote (which is on the left-hand side of the screen now).

It has been a while

I can’t believe it has been over 2 weeks since Kate or I have posted on the blog. We are pretty busy, but had seemed to find the time to do it in the past. Let’s see if I can recap the last couple of weeks.

Well almost two weeks ago it was my birthday. It was super cool. I got some sweet presents (more on that later) and had pumpkin pie for dessert instead of the boring old birthday cake. I came away form this birthday with quite a bit of booty. First, I got a bike, and not just any bike. I got nice road bike. Kate’s parents and Kate went in on this bad boy jointly and now it is my main transportation to work. David knew about the bike and got me some super cool “bomb proof” pedals. Also, I am finally back into the world of smart phones. I got a new iPhone, which is more fun that I remember it being.

I haven’t named the bike yet, but as I am writing this I am thinking that it does need one. Maybe you guys can help me with that. For now, lets call the bike Pat, because I don’t know if it is a boy or girl yet. Anyway, Pat, needed more room in the garage, plus it was time to just take care of that whole mess. So Kate and I did just that. We got the garage looking super nice. We wanted to have room for Pat, other stuff that needs to be stored and of course the cat. Yoshi has her litter box and food in the garage. It is a nice little area. I just need to organize the tool bench now.

Since Leah and Xaviea were coming to visit Kate and I spruced up the place, including, unpacking more of Hannah’s room. We got rid of a ton of boxes in there and made it so you could actually see the new carpet. The room looks much better now and is actually usable.

The weekend after my birthday, Leah and Xaviea came to visit. I think Kate and I forgot how cool they are. So nice to hang out with them. We went to the Saturday market, thought about joining a drum circle, ate great soul food, watched the IT Crowd and got pazookies at BJs. The last activity included many inappropriate jokes about the restaurant’s name. The best idea I heard that night was from Leah asking, “Do they have shirts that you can buy that say, ‘I love BJs”?

I made a list of all the things that I wanted to recap and didn’t even dent the list. Stay tuned tomorrow for another installment of WTF has Adam and Kate been doing for the last 2 weeks.

P.S. I am going to post some new pictures in about 10 minutes.

A change of heart

Since Kate and I found out that something had taken up residence in her uterus we’ve always had the idea that we would wait until it’s birthday to find out the sex. This all stemmed from me thinking out loud. At some point, I said, “It would be cool if I could announce the sex of our child when it is born.” Even though I wasn’t attached to the idea, we were going to wait.

The last couple of weeks we had been thinking about it, because the big ultrasound is coming up. We have decided that it would be way more fun to know now instead of waiting and to make it more exciting for all of you. So, were going to play a little game. Here is what we are going to do: on Wednesday we’re going to post the big ultrasound video with a poll and you all have a week to vote on what you think the sex is. Then we’re going to post the actual results (in a creative way) for everyone to know.

More to come on Wednesday!

The new new blog

Welcome to the new Becker Project. The website did exist before as a blog, but we didn’t use it very often. We’ve recently decided to revive the website and use it again. More info to come soon.
