sunshine

I’m celebrating the sunshine by leaving the dogs out in the yard. They are very confused about why they have been outside for an extended period of time. They ran around, and did their business and now they don’t know what to do, so they are sitting on the patio staring at the door. Hopefully all the sitting outside is wearing them out.

Hannah is still sleeping in her carseat from when Lorna and I went to the store half hour ago, and since we need to go pick Adam up in a few I’m just leaving here there to finish her nap. She’ll be thrilled to wake up to her daddy. Each morning when we drive him to work he sits in the back with her and makes her smile and giggle, and she promptly starts crying when he gets out of the car. Nice how much she likes him. =)

dog park

Yesterday we took Hannah to the dog park with the dogs and met up with some friends and their dog. It was nice to see the dogs having so much fun, they loved laying in the mud. Then we went to dinner at Red Robin with our friends. Hannah slept the whole time we were there which was impressive since she was sleeping through meal time. She’s such a good baby.

Saturday night we put her to bed in her crib for the first time. She did great, an despite feeling like she was far away, I managed to fall asleep and stay asleep till she woke up to eat. Then after she ate I put her in the bassinet next to our bed, where she normally sleeps. She had been eating at 8 or 9 and then going to bed after that and sleeping till 2:30ish, but now with the time change it’s more like 1:30.

When she was in the bassinet right next to our bed I could just lean over and rock her or give her back her pacifier if she woke up before her usual eating time, but now I have to get up and walk to her room, which takes a lot more energy. Last night she woke up twice before eating time and I went in and soothed her, at 1am I stopped attempting to get her to go back to sleep and fed her. Then I tried to put her back to bed in her crib, but after an hour of getting up every few minutes to sooth her, I gave up and put her in her bassinet and she fell asleep within a few minutes.

When she wakes up for her 5am feeding I usually just let her stay in our bed, because then she’ll sleep a little longer. If I try and put her in her bassinet she won’t sleep, she thinks it’s morning and time to get up and play. Funny since her definition of playing just required that she be upright. We can lay down with our knees bent up and put her with her bottom on our stomach and her back against our legs, and she’s just happily sit there smiling and giggling. she loves the morning, not sure where she got that.

Right now she’s laying on a little play mat looking up at the toys and smiling. There is a little mirror and it looks like she is looking at herself, I wonder what she thinks she is seeing. “Who’s that cute baby?”

Funny Hubby

I wish Adam would blog more, he’s just so darn funny. I was a little bit funny before Hannah and the sleep deprived fog, but now I am mostly just funny to watch, especially when someone tells a joke and I laugh 3 minutes later. =)

I also enjoyed that the google ads for today were about toilets and strollers, good work Hannah blog, confusing the advertisers.

Things are great in Hannah land. She weighed 12 pounds 7 ounces yesterday at birth to 3. The big milestone is when babies double their birth weigh, since then they are big enough and can hold enough food to stay full and sleep through the night. We’ve got a ways to go before we hit the 17 pound mark, but we’re chugging along. Hannah doing a lot more of the chugging than me. (see, I can at least try to be funny)

I had been trying to feed Hannah as late as possible each night so she’d ideally sleep as long as possible, but she kept waking up between 1 and 2am anyway. Then my wise friend Liz, who’s second baby is a week older than Hannah, mentioned that her little one sleeps till 1 or 2am even when his last feeding is at 8. So I thought it was worth a shot, I fed her around 9 when she was hungry, and got her ready for bed, and she took a little bit to fall asleep, but low and behold she slept till around 1am, wahoo!! Then she wanted to eat every 2 hours after that, but it was a step in the right direction. At our pediatricians appointment I asked how long she could go and the doc said she should be able to comfortably go 3 hours between feedings. So the next night when she woke up less than 3 hour since she’d eaten, I’d rock her, and eventually she’d go back to sleep. This constant waking and not feeding went on for a few nights. Then she seemed to settle into a pattern. She eats around 9, sleeps till about 2:30, then sleeps till 5:30, then she’s up for the day. I don’t love getting up at 5:30, but I do love sleeping from 10-2 (though often I end up playing on the internet or getting distracted by something else).

Last night we went to a baby stuff consignment sale and I got her a mobile for her crib. It was great because she laid in her crib and laughed and yelled at it for about half hour while I got ready. We also got her a johnny jump up, and I am super excited for her to be old enough to use it.

I got a video camera for my birthday, so once I figure out how to upload movies there will be lots of Hannah movies on her youtube channel.

Server switch

This Friday the blog will be moving to a new server! You’re probably asking yourself questions like, “What does this mean for me?” and, “What is a server?” No worries, I’ve brought Hannah to the computer to explain it all.

Adam: When is this going to happen?
Hannah: Friday night after you’ve all gone to bed and I am keeping my mother up.

Adam: Will the blog be down?
Hannah: Aaaahhh, oooooo (Translation: nopers)

Adam: What is a server?
Hannah: Pass….

Adam: What does this mean for the blog visitors?
Hannah: Faster blog!!!

That about wraps that up, thanks Hannah and we’ll see you guys on the new server after Friday night.

Hannah gets a job, sorta

So apparently there are child labor laws that prevent people from putting their 9-week old babies to work. As that Will Smith song tells me, “I just don’t understand.”

It’s not like babies sleep off and on throughtout the day, need to eat every three hours or go to the bathroom wherever they want. Babies would be the perfect employee. However, that doesn’t matter because of those silly laws.

Last week I was thinking about all of this and came up with a solution. Google ads. I mean you are all pretty much here for Hannah, so any ad money generated is like her working. Good work baby Hannah.

Ok, joking aside, there are some Google ads on the site. With the number of hits we are getting I figured you might as well make Hannah a couple of bucks. The ads won’t be too intrusive, so please continue to enjoy the website.

8 weeks

Hannah will be 8 weeks on Thursday and 2 months on Sunday. We had her 2 month pediatrician appointment today and she’s doing great. She weighs 12 pounds! She got her shots and didn’t like it very much, but calmed down relatively easily. She’s a little fussy now, but she typically is in the evening, so it could just be the usual fuss. More pics on the albums. =)
