productive

We figured since we’ve owned the house for 6 months now, it was time to mow the law. So Adam did it, and he did a great job. =) Hannah and I helped by picking up dog poo.

nobody puts baby in the toilet

Our new toilet. It’ll only be clean enough for pictures once, so I figured why not. (it does have a tank, it was already unpacked)

put down the baby!

A few days ago my mom put Hannah on her back on a little play mat they have, it has toys that dangle over their head to entertain them. Hannah didn’t scream, I was very surprised. She didn’t seem to be looking at the toys, just listening to us.

Then Monday night I pulled out the play mat Lorna gave us and laid her on it and she actually looked at the toys, and then she grinned! and grinned some more! It was delightful.

So we’ve been having fun “playing”. I put her down in her crib and shake toys in front of her and she smiles. I put her on the jungle play mat and she smiles. I put her on the hippo play mat and she smiles. I put her on her tummy on the boppy and she smiles. Then within a few minutes (or less than a minute on the boppy) she stops smiling and starts winding up to cry and I pick her up. It’s fun for the few moments it lasts. Who knew you could put the baby down?

mastitis, toilets, baby onion breath

Friday Hannah and I went for our second jog with Poppy, we’re still on the first week of training which is running for 60 seconds and walking for 90 seconds.

Saturday morning Adam joined us for another run, and our dogs came too. I was having a hard time keeping up with Adam and my dad, I figured it was just because they’re in better shape than me, but I think it was really because I was sick, more on that later.  Marlene came to hang with Hannah and us, she kept Hannah entertained so I could have a nap which was great. Then we went to target to return a bottle warmer (turns out they aren’t any easier than just hot water on the stove) and use a gift card. After target we went to costco. Adam and Marlene made dinner, yummers. Marlene went home after dinner. I’d been feeling exhausted but thought it was because of the run and the nap (naps often make me feel worse). I took my temperature and realized I had a fever, it was up to 101 by the time I went to bed. I felt better the next morning, but still not great.

Sunday we had our first new parent group meeting at church. It was small but really fun just to chat with other new parents. Hannah and I went and hung out at my parents with my mom while Adam and my dad went to costco to get toilets. We’ve been waiting for costco to have toilets since we saw them a few months ago, we needed to replace ours, and costco had a great deal on dual flush toilets so we can save some on our water bill. My parents were great about encouraging me to call the doctor on call at my OB’s office and ask if I had mastitis, which she said I did. So Adam went and got me some antibiotics and we vegged at my parents. It was great to have so much help, Hannah was well entertained between feedings.

Monday Hannah and I got Adam at work to use our free breakfast rain check from last tuesday, then Adam took us back to my parents to veg and rest while Adam was at work. Then after work Adam picked us up and he installed the new toilet in our full bath. We used our pony express giftcard that Jeff got us as a baby present, very fun because we got to choose a restaurant and pick anything off the menu and they delivered it. We got mexican food from Chapala’s, it was very yummy. I had chicken fajitas, delightful.

Tuesday I was feeling a lot better and went to bible study in the morning. The Lorna and I hung out. I thought Hannah’s burps were smelling weird and Lorna pointed out that me eating onions could make her breath smell like onions, weird! We used the steak from Saturday night to make steak quesadillas for dinner. Then we gave Hannah a bath. I’m not brave enough to do it myself yet. She doesn’t seem to hate it all that much when we have the water running on her, but she hates when we pull her out and dry her, we try and get her warm really fast, but by then she’s really worked up and hard to calm.

Hannah didn’t do a whole lot of sleeping last night. Adam took the car to work since I figured we’d still be sleeping and wouldn’t go to birth to three, but Hannah woke up as soon as Adam walked out the door and hasn’t wanted to go back to sleep until now, and it’s 10:30am. I’m hoping we’ll just have a quiet day. I should stop blogging and try and nap with her. =)

yogging

That’s jogging with a soft J because it’s slower than walking. Yesterday my dad and Hannah and I went for a “jog”. I’m doing the couch to 5k training plan that I used to learn to run in November 2008. I figure it’ll keep me from overdoing it. Hannah enjoyed being in her fancy jog stroller and looking around. When we got back and Hannah was being held by Poppy she busted out some smiles, very fun.

Then we took the dogs to the park to play fetch, but it started raining so we only stayed for a little bit. Everytime I take them out we have to spend 5+ minutes wiping all the mud off their paws when we get back. I can’t wait till the rainy season is over. I’d like someone to invent something I can stick their paws in that washes and dries them. Doggie bidet with built in dryer?

Then my mom watched Hannah while I went to do some volunteer counseling at the church. Hannah was reportedly good and just slept, she does love a good nap on Nana. I picked up Adam from home (he biked to work and back) and we went back to my parents and made spaghetti and watch lost. We just have one episode left in the second season, and it’s pretty exciting.

Today Hannah and I have been hanging with the dogs. Later we’re going to go jog again with Poppy and Rosie (my dad and their labradoodle).

birth to three

Hannah and I went to birth to three again today, it’s fun to see the babies at all different stages. She now weighs 10 pounds 4.5 ounces. So she’s averaging almost an ounce a day. Good to see that she’s growing because she was weird about eating last week.

Then we came home and I made a bunch of phone calls. Finally got Hannah put on my insurance for last month so we don’t have to pay thousands for her hospital stuff. I hate havings to make all those stupid calls, but I made a to-do list so at least I could feel productive as I crossed each one off. Then I vacuumed since she wouldn’t stop screaming,  and being in the pouch when I vacuum always helps her fall asleep.

Adam just got home, so we’re off to hang, and change another diaper. =)

Church baby

Hannah and I have been keeping busy, and spending lots of time at church. Monday we went to a group for moms of preschoolers, it was really neat to meet other moms, and see babies at different stages. I get so excited seeing how responsive the older babies are and knowing Hannah will get there soon.  Then today we went to bible study and Nana held her for a couple hours so she was a super happy camper.

We took the dogs to the park using her jog stroller, she enjoys looking around and the dogs like the exercise.

Time to go, she’s asking for a diaper change. =)
