Ready

Alright Hannah, I’ve vacuumed and swept and mopped, I even vacuumed the couch for you. Now it’s time for you to come. See you soon?

1 week!!

Now when people ask when I’m due I get to say “Wednesday!”

Very exciting.

We have a doctors appointment later today. They aren’t very exciting anymore, Hannah’s heartbeat is always good and strong, and we’re just playing the waiting game now. My doc doesn’t like her patients to go more than a week overdue, so at some point here we’ll have to come up with a game plan in case she doesn’t want to come voluntarily.

Tonight Adam and I are helping with the middle school all nighter at church. Well, I’m helping for a bit, then going home to bed, Adam is going to stay all night playing mini golf, laser tag, sock’em (game invented by the youth pastor involving kids thwacking each other with long socks stuffed with other socks) and more fun.

I’ve been enjoying balancing nesting and resting. Adam has been working so hard, putting in long days at work then coming home and doing everything that requires lifting, climbing, or electronics. He put together some dressers from Ikea and we’re using them as nightstands. We haven’t had dressers in a while so that’s been really nice, and now we have nightstands for our guest room. I’m feeling ready, washed all the baby clothes and put them away, and Adam has our bags packed for the hospital. Today I’m hoping to sweep and vacuum and keep the dogs company.

Belly Celebrates Christmas

Mom, me + belly, and Kelly enjoying Christmas.

Merry Christmas!

I think Hannah is trying to send her Christmas greetings as well, or she is just kicking me for funzies.

We had a fantastic holiday. Adam’s sister Kelly came down on Tuesday night and we got to hang out, she lives and goes to school in Alaska so we don’t get to see her very often so it was a special treat. She even let us borrow some of her artists ability to frost cookies. =) Christmas Eve we were joined by Adam’s mom, brother Josh, his Fiancee Shy and their 2 kids and friend Kevin. We exchanged gifts, went to the Christmas eve service at our church and then had Pizza at Papa’s. Apparently half of Eugene has pizza on Christmas Eve, the place was packed. My parents, Lorna, Max, Annette and Henry joined us for church and Papas. It was neat to have everyone together and to catch up with Adam’s family. Josh, Shy, Kevin and the kids headed back north after dinner. The rest of us went to enjoy some dessert at my parents. The cookies Kelly frosted were delish!

Christmas morning we did a gift exchange here with Kelly and Marlene. Adam is super excited about his new bike trainer so he can ride his bike in the house as a workout. Convenient for all those days when it is freezing outside and I won’t let him ride to work on the ice since he doesn’t have health insurance. (I’m so demanding!) I am most excited about my new pouch to wear Hannah in. Kelly gave us an amazing picture she captured of the Northern Lights in Alaska, so now we get to find a spot in our house to hang it.

Then we headed over to my parents for more fun and festivities. Henry gave Hannah a really nice set of wood blocks. My parents got Adam and I got the jog stroller we really wanted and Adam had fun assembling it with my dad. Then my mom and I took it for a walk to help Chloe get used to it. She did really good, except for the times when mom’s puppy Rosie pushed her into it and she got her little toes run over. Chloe is such a baby. Rosie is learning to walk on her new gentle leader and doing very well, way less rubbing her face on the ground than Dash and Chloe did while learning.

Adam and I played settlers of Catan with my parents, which was very fun. We watched Monsters Inc. (my new blu-ray version), it was really fun to see it so high def. We ate tons and ton of treats and snacks, and played with all our presents and generally had a fantastic day. Hannah wanted to be the center of attention so she somehow caused me to have the worlds loudest stomach growling sounds. We were hoping it was because she was making her exit, but no such luck.

Yesterday my mom and I braved the crowds and went to the mall and old navy. It’s fun to shop sales when you’re not in any kind of hurry and don’t need anything in particular. Hopefully all the walking will encourage Hannah to hurry up and come!

Today I slept in. I was sure I’d slept until at least 3 pm, so I was a little disappointed when it was only 11am, haha. Funny how 11am seems like sleeping forever, just a few months of working 8-5 and getting up before 7am and I’ve adjusted my whole body clock. Soon we’ll have a little one that will totally readjust it again. =)

I’ve got to get off the computer now so Adam can use it to try and jailbreak my iphone so I can keep using it as a tiny laptop. I stupidly installed a new update and managed to lock it, opps.

Please be sending us baby having vibes. We’re ready. =)

Done!!

Epic chair project success!!!!!

Adam hammering the fabric to cover the springs. The final touch!

Me enjoying my “new” chair.

Alright Hannah, you are now allowed to arrive. Adam finished the trim tonight and the house is looking fantastic. And the chair is done. Best Tuesday ever!

I’m terrible at unemployment

Yesterday I took Adam to work and the dogs to day care (we’re weaning them off slowly, and they can use up a lot more energy there without getting as filthy when it’s raining). Then I swept, vacuumed, did laundry, went to water aerobics, saw a counseling client at church, opened a bank account at the local credit union and picked Adam up. We went back to the bank and signed more papers, then got the dogs and home for hamburger helper (my specialty, haha). Adam worked hard finishing cutting the trim for Hannah’s room and the guest room and part of the kitchen. I cleaned the bathrooms and even learned that we had some super strong paint remover from when we were shellacking the sub floors that worked to get the paint stains of the linoleum in the bathroom. I got to give in to my bizarre nesting urges by cleaning the ceiling fan and the dishwasher buttons. Then Adam and I watched the last of a movie we’d started earlier and I went to bed.

Today I took Adam to work, got home fed the dogs and started some laundry. Called insurance to ask if they cover breast pumps and how to get Hannah insured. Talked to my friends in Carolina. Called Vanguard to try and figure out how to consolidate all the retirement accounts I have from my different employers. Apparently everyone is trying to do this because their call volume was soo high I have to call back later to talk to the department I need. I’m excited to get it all sorted out, since taxes have been a nightmare for Adam these last few years because of it, and now it’s my turn to do taxes.

Then I wrapped some presents that need to be mailed and got the addresses so I can take them to the post office. Now I’m just hanging out waiting to see if Lorna and I are doing water aerobics today. Then hanging with mom this afternoon and doing some errands. I need to go to home depot and get Adam some more trim to finish the kitchen, and the store to get food. I also need a little piece of sturdy fabric (maybe denim?) to cover the springs on the glider rocker, then it’ll be done!!!!

Adam’s sister is coming tonight to hang out with us, so that’ll be super fun. Adam just has to nail gun the trim to the wall in the guest room so he can push all the furniture back against the walls. Then she’ll have someplace to sleep.

For now I’m off to try logging in to our new online bank account so we can start switching stuff over. =)

Yoshi has the Christmas spirit

Ok, so she doesn’t really have the Christmas spirit, but what you should do is go to this website and vote for her, so she can at least get on the front page of I Can Has Cheezburger.

Give her 5 Cheezburgers!!!

Time for a plan

With Hannah’s arrival impending Adam and I finally got to work on a game plan.

When the time comes we’ll head to Riverbend hopsital to have her. http://www.peacehealth.org/PatientsAndFamilies/Babies/Oregon.htm

Adam and my mom are going to be helping with the actual birthing. As much as I love all the rest of you, I’m going to keep my nakedness a private affair. =)

Adam is going to tweet periodically during the labor and birth, and hopefully those will update here on the family blog, if not, now’s the time to start following Adam on twitter.  His twitter name is cyphun

When she’s here he’ll post pictures for your enjoyment. We’ll be there between 24-48 hours after she’s born. We’re not really planning on hanging out there any longer than needed for us to sleep and her to get all her tests done. Adam will have his cell and laptop so he can be keeping in touch with people wanting updates, hopefully some of the time they’ll be off because we’ll be sleeping.  Hahahaha, getting any sleep with a newborn, funny.

Adam only gets 2 weeks off work (well technically one off and one working from home) so we’re going to make a special effort to honor that being his time to bond with Hannah and not have anyone stay with us then. We’d love brief visits so people can meet her, we just won’t be ready to host slumber parties. I don’t think we’ll turn down any offers of dog walking, or pizza delivery. =)

After Adam’s back to work I know I’d love help, I just don’t know when that’ll be yet. We can’t wait for Hannah to get here so she can met all of you and see just how loved she is. =)

Even better!

Adam got his H1N1 vaccine while he was getting my heating pad. That says a lot because he won’t get the regular flu shot even though I beg him every year. He loves me and Hannah so much he’s willing to get injected with baby pigs, hahaha.
