Yesterday I was 19 weeks along. Pretty exciting because next week is the halfway point. I’m pretty sure my uterus tipped forward because I’ve felt a few little kicks and flutters. The weirdest part is when I feel pressure on the front of my lower belly and when I put my hand there I can feel a lump, and if I push on the lump it goes away, or moves to the other side of my belly, so that must be her. It’s crazy.

in case you were wondering

the house we offered on. Inspection tuesday, more details to come after that. =)

we’re buying a house! hopefully…..

So today we officially signed paperwork for a house. Pretty cool. Now comes all the stuff that could mess it up. We’ll have a house inspection next week and they always find something, but hopefully it’s just little stuff like the tub needing to be re-caulked or gutters needing cleaning, not foundation cracks or dry-rot. If anything big is wrong we’ll have to negotiate with the seller to see if they’ll fix it, if not we’d probably back out. Then we have a appraiser come to the house and decide how much they think the house is worth, they are hired by the mortgage company to make sure the house is worth what we’re paying for it, just in case the mortgage company gets stuck with the house, they want it to be worth the loan amount. If the house isn’t worth what we’re offering we have to go into negotiation with the seller to see who can make up the difference. Hopefully that’ll go well since homes in the neighborhood that are smaller have been selling for more.

I’m trying not to get too excited about this, since so much could change depending on the inspection and appraisal. Though if that all goes well, we might own a house come September 16th, wahoo! Then we’d get possesion on the 18th and spend the weekend ripping up carpet and painting, fun fun fun!

calcium enriched dogs

so we got home from being out today and my bottle of chewable calcium had been opened and most of it eaten. Good work dogs on getting off the childproof cap. We called the emergency vet to ask what to look for and they gave us the number for animal poison control, so we called them but it’s $35 to get help, so we hung up and looked on the internet. We’re watching to see if they get sick, or lose consciousness. Right now they look pretty happy, and maybe their bones look stronger, hehe.

We looked at a house yesterday and really liked the layout and the neighborhood and it’s been on the market a while, so we decided to go home and think about it. Of course on the way home we find out that there is another offer on the house. The only obvious issue with the house is that it smells like cat pee, so we’ve been doing research on cat pee removal. The good news is that we could recarpet the entire house, or lay some sort of wood looking laminate for under 2 grand, and the best news is that it sounds like it would be very doable to get the smell out entirely.

The seller didn’t accept the other people’s offer, and countered back to them, but they aren’t accepting they are countering back. We thought about it a lot and did more research. We decided since we love the neighborhood so much, and the houses in the neighborhood are selling well even in this market, and the house isn’t topped out (we could make little changes to increase the value) that we’d make an offer. So our offer and the other people’s counter will be shown to the seller tomorrow and we’ll know then. It’s all so silly since they won’t tell you what the other people are offering. We’re offering almost what the seller is asking, but asking them to cover 7k of our closing, since we’d need to be shelling out money to replace the carpet before we even moved in.

Other than that things are pretty mellow here. We went to church to help in middle school group and then looked at another house which was cute, but only 2 bedroom 1 bath which is pretty hard to resell. Then we came back around 2:30 and I napped, delightful. Yesterday we took the dogs to the park, chloe is starting to love swimming to fetch the rubber floating stick we got her, and there is a little “river” right by the dog park. We also went for a walk in the evening which was nice, and the dogs enjoyed it.

We’ll keep you posted on the house hunt. For now, back to researching floors. =)

the waddle

“What is round ligament pain?

Round ligament pain generally refers to a brief, sharp, stabbing pain or a longer-lasting dull ache that pregnant women commonly feel in the lower abdomen or groin, starting in the second trimester.

You may feel round ligament pain as a short jabbing sensation if you suddenly change position, such as when you’re getting out of bed or out of a chair or when you cough, roll over in bed, or get out of the bathtub. You may feel it as a dull ache after a particularly active day — when you’ve been walking a lot or doing some other physical activity.

The round ligaments surround your uterus in your pelvis. As your uterus grows during pregnancy, the ligaments stretch and thicken to accommodate and support it. These changes can occasionally cause pain on one or both sides of your abdomen.

You may feel the pain starting from deep inside your groin, moving upward and outward on either side to the top of your hips. The pain is internal, but if you were to trace it on your skin, it would follow the bikini line on a very high-cut bathing suit.”

I’ve been having this weird pain for a week now, and was glad when the doc said it wasn’t anything to worry about when we saw her wednesday. It’s worst when I twist or move from sitting to standing, so when I get up in the middle of the night to pee I stay all hunched when I walk to the bathroom while holding my belly, very entertaining. Today Adam and I were running errands and I’d get out of the car and walk all slowly, and I realized where the preggo waddle comes from. Very entertaining. Now if only the baby would stop making my ligaments hurt and kick me instead. =)
